Today was one of the busiest days that I have ever experienced! Let me give you a little glimpse: My sister's and I had a baby shower, a birthday party, and a church recreational night. All in the same day. I couldn't believe how tired I was.
Lately I have been having that tired feeling, and I have not been able to get over it. I've been staying active, trying to eat pretty good, and yet, I still feel really tired all of the time. Over the past few days that I have been feeling like this I noticed I was not doing something that should be apart of my everyday life. I was not reading my Bible. It probably sounds like it is probably not a big deal, but I know that God is the only one that can give me physical, mental, and spiritual strength. When I don't spend time in God's word, I look to other things to give me that "strength." I like to read, and I can spend hours reading one book, and not do anything else. That time that I am spending reading a book, I could be learning about God's amazing word!
One of my favorite verses is in Matthew 8 21-22. Jesus is was talking to multitudes of people and they are all saying how they will follow Him, and do anything for Him. One of His disciples says, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father," Jesus replies, "let the dead bury their own dead." This might sound extreme, but what Jesus is saying is that we must give our all to Him, and leave none of the leftover's for Him. If we're to follow Him, we must leave behind things that are dear to us so that we can follow the One True God. Now, you're probably thinking, than I can't enjoy things that I like? Absolutely not! We can still enjoy things that we like, but we can not let it take place of the time we have set apart for Him. We must give God glory to Him in everything that we do! In Ecclesiastes 3:12-13, Soloman says, "I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice……very man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor- it is the gift go God." This verse says that we should enjoy things that the Lord gives us, because He has given them to us for us to enjoy. Sadly, we mistake these "gifts" for idols. In Exodus 20:3, the Lord says, You shall have no other God's before Me." When God gives us His "gifts" He wants us to enjoy them, and give Him all the Glory. One of my favorite hymns reads, "To God be the Glory great things He has done! So loved He the world that He gave us His Son." What an amazing God, and what an amazing gift. His Son, Jesus Christ!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymrZO1PZbU4
